Question:
Hello, I am pretty green when it comes to trailers and towing. I need to move from Philadelphia to LA in my 2007 Honda CR-V. I plan on using a UHaul trailer to move the contents of our 1 bedroom apartment. I need help deciding what trailer hitch/accessories to get to make this happen. How do I know how much weight my car can manage? What size trailer would I be able to safely pull? Any answers you could provide would be so appreciated. I want to make sure my family and my car is safe on this trek! Best,

According to the owner's manual for your 2007 Honda CR-V, "The maximum allowable weight of the trailer and everything in or on it must not exceed 1,500 lbs. The size of the trailer does not matter so long as it does not exceed this rating. In order to tow a trailer with your CR-V you will need a trailer hitch, wiring harness, and a ball mount/hitch ball.
For a trailer hitch, I recommend using the Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver part # 75547 because it is a custom fit that will not require any drilling as it installs using pre drilled holes in the frame rail. For a trailer wiring harness, I recommend the T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness part # 118427 because it is completely plug and play which will not require any cutting or splitting. For a ball mount/hitch ball, I recommend the Ball Mount Kit part # 989900 because it should have anything you need to couple the trailer and keep it level but using the attached help article will allow you to confirm this.
I have also attached an install video of the trailer hitch and wiring harness for you as well.
