Question:
Hello, we are looking for a hitch for our 2016 Subaru Outlback 2.5i. The only thing we want to tow with it is a 900 lb mini ultralight camper trailer. Do we need a class 3 hitch for that?

Although you could get away with a Class II trailer hitch like part # 36493 for towing a 900 lb trailer with your 2016 Subaru Outback Wagon, I highly recommend using a Class III trailer hitch like part # 75673 or part # 76227 instead.
The Class III trailer hitches have 2" receivers which allow you to use a wider variety of accessories than if you went with a Class II trailer hitch. You will want to also check out your owner's manual for any information or restrictions about towing and if your Outback Wagon has lower weight ratings (which it probably does) then those will be your limiting factor.
To complete your towing setup you will also need wiring, like the recommended T-One # 118467, and a ball mount, hitch ball, and pin & clip like what comes with the kit # 989900. I have attached a helpful article for you to reference to see if this is the correct kit for your towing application.
I have also attached some videos for you to check out.
