Estimated Towing Capacity of a 1991 Chevy 1500 Pickup Truck

Question:
Hello, what footage or max weight can a 1991 1500 chevy pick up 1/2 ton V8 tow? I want to purchase a travel trailer to be moved from Texas to Oregon. I would ideally like to puchace a 29ft trailer. It would not be loaded with water or anything but just the dry weight along with our belongings which will be boxed. To further explain, my fiancee and I will be using the trailer to live out of while we get settled into Portland, Oregon. So it wont be doing much traveling once were in the Pacific northwest. Thank you!

Normally the towing capacity of a vehicle is in the owner's manual but I do not think Chevy put that information in for the 1991 trucks. You can check for a sticker in the driver's side door jamb. It may list gross combined weight rating (GCWR) and gross vehicle weight rating (GWR or GVWR).
Gross combined is the most that the truck and trailer can weigh together. Gross vehicle weight rating is the max amount the truck by itself can weigh. To determine the towing capacity using these 2 numbers you will subtract the gross vehicle weight rating from the gross combined weight rating.
I have looked around and depending on the motor capacity could be 4,000 pounds (4.3 liter), 6,000 pounds (5.0 liter), up to 7,500 pounds (5.7 liter).
