You said your 2008 Dodge Ram had the longer bed, though that is not 6 feet, it is 8 feet.

If the bed on your Ram is 8 feet long, the correct TruXedo TruXport Tonneau Cover is part # TX248101 and you need Replacement Tarp # TX2481-CVR.

If the bed on your truck is 6-1/2 feel long the the correct TruXedo TruXport Tonneau Cover is part # TX246601 and you need Replacement Tarp # TX246601-CVR.

As long as you are sure of your bed size, you can get the correct replacement tarp.

It's the 6 1/2 ft box. But my question is what is the difference between these 2 replacement covers: TX2446-CVR TX246601-CVR, other than price? Are they both the same? Will either one of these work?

The difference is that one of these covers will work as a replacement for your '08 Ram with a 6-1/2 foot bed and the other is not going to. You need Replacement Cover # TX246601-CVR so long as you have TruXedo TruXport Tonneau Cover part # TX246601. The other cover you referenced is not a fit for this model and will not work for you.
