It sounds like you're asking about the Yakima HoldUp platform bike rack, part # Y02443-2. As is it only holds bike tires up to 3 inches wide.
For a Yakima rack that fit up to 5 inch tires without needing additional straps look at the HoldUp EVO, part # Y02479-2. It also includes locks to secure the rack to your vehicle as well as the bikes to the rack.
