Question:
Purchased Titan Hitch Box Extension RP45292. I did not receive install instructions. I hope you can answere a few questions. The Extension was cut back 10 inches and installed in a 2011 Chevrolet 3500 hd factory class 5 hitch and the extnsion seems to rattle or sway about an inch, is this normall? Also are the two eyes on top for safty chains? Thanks

The play that you are experiencing with the Titan Hitch Box Extension, # RP45292, is normal. This is present because of manufacturing tolerance differences between the hitch extension and receiver and the length of the extension is magnifying the play.
It would be a good idea to go with a Hitch Immobilizer, # BX88225 to eliminate as much movement as possible with the extension, but it is not required. Just be sure that when installing the immobilizer that you do not tighten it so much that you bend the hitch extension.
The two eyes on the top of the extension are for safety chains. DOT regulations require that you extend the safety chains on your trailer so that it is attached directly to the vehicle, these loops should be utilized to keep the new longer safety chains from dragging the ground.
Many people elect to add an extension to their existing safety chains, so that they can remove the extension for towing the trailer when the extension is not used. For this application, I would recommend using two quick links, # C82932 or # 6590-044-04, and two of the 35 inch Long Safety Chains, # 1483-535-04.
