I do not have the Valley wiring harness # 30226 for your 2007 Lexus RX-350 so I am not familiar with their instructions on the wiring harness, but it sounds similar to the Tow Ready T-One Connector Wiring Harness, part # 118478, that we carry for your vehicle.
The Tow Ready wiring harness draws power directly from the vehicles battery via an in-line fuse so your electrical system is safe. Part # 118478 is designed this way to protect your electrical system. There would only be a slight draw from your tail light power that would only be used as a switch to activate system, the power source would come straight from battery and the circuit is protected though the converter box.
To install, you would begin at the rear of the vehicle, by removing the plastic trim, to access the tail light harness. You will then unplug the tail light harness, beginning on the drive side, and plug in the T-Connector to reconnect the harness. The T-Connector with the yellow wire will plug into the driver side, the connector with the green wire will need to be routed to the passenger side.
Next, you will need to ground the white wire to the frame of your Lexus.
Then, you will connect the red wire on the converter box, with the supplied butt connectors to the black 12 gauge wire. You will run the black wire to the battery, you can route the wire through an existing grommet and outside the vehicle along the frame, or through the inside of your Lexus along the door frame trim and through grommet in firewall. Before connecting to battery, you will need to disconnect negative battery terminal, then secure fuse holder to positive battery terminal, install included fuse, and connect black wire then re-connect Negative battery terminal. Now you can find a place to mount the converter box and re-install the trim panels.
I am including a link to the installation instructions on the Tow Ready wiring harness.
