Question:
We are buying a 6x10 cargo trailer with an overall length of 14 feet. We want to pull it with a Ford Explorer. In order to be able to see behind us, we want a rear view camera. Is this possible?

The best camera system for your application is the Rear View Safety Wireless System # RVS-091406. The camera sends a wireless signal to the monitor which is powered by your 12V accessory outlet in your Ford Explorer.
Wire the camera it to a reverse light circuit if you just want it as a backup camera. Otherwise if you want to use it as an observation system it would be better to wire it to your running light circuit. You can then turn the camera on and off by activating the headlights on your Explorer.
I recommend a wireless system so that there is less chance of a wiring issue and you don't have to remember to plug it in every time you go to tow your trailer.

Is it possible to use my factory stereo as a monitor for a travel trailer backup camera?
