Troubleshooting Installation Of Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch Receiver Item # 75095

Updated 03/07/2018 | Published 03/06/2018

Question:

I installed the Draw Tite Hitch #75095 on my 1999 Toyota Land Cruiser. Like one of your other customers, I was only able to install five of the six bolts. The one I could not get to thread was the drivers side bolt closest to the front of the vehicle. This is the location where the factory did not have a bolt previously in place. I sprayed rust remover, lubricant and cleaned with the wire brush I purchased from etrailer, but I still cannot get the bolt to begin to thread. I even tried to thread the bolt without the hitch in place, to make sure alignment of the hitch hole with the bolt hole in the chassis was not the issue. Any suggestions? I do not plan to tow anything at present. My intended purpose for the hitch is sports racks and a pet loader platform, so I am sure the five bolts are more than enough for those purposes. But I would like to install the sixth bolt if possible in case I ever use the hitch for towing.

The Draw-Tite Max Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver, Item # 75095, is a confirmed fit for your 1999 Toyota Land Cruiser so that is not the challenge. However, you need to install the sixth bolt because the security and stability of the Draw-Tite hitch and what it carries is dependent on all bolts being in place.

I contacted the tech department of the manufacturer and they confirmed that that you must have all bolts in place. They recommended trying a thread tap and are confident this will solve your problem.

I have also attached instructions, additional information, and a video that will help.
