Tongue Weight Capacity for Honda CR-V w/ Hitch Cargo Carrier

Question:
We have a 2016 Honda CR-V and are looking to get a hitch cargo carrier for a power wheelchair weighing 375 lbs. We have already been told that we need a class 3 hitch and ordered one w/ part #41576/MPN 75742. Basically were trying to find out how much weight we can carry and put in the car. The Honda manual says the tongue weight is 850 lbs. Is that still the total weight it can take including the cargo carrier, wheelchair, and passengers/inside cargo? Or will the weight limit rise with the new hitch, and how much? Thanks.

Tongue weight typically refers to the vertical load on the trailer hitch as well as any cargo weight behind the rear axle. That said, not every manufacturer follows this guideline so it might vary.
I looked up the 2016 Honda CR-V owners manual and it states that the towing capacity is 1,500 lbs and the tongue weight capacit is 10 percent of that, 150 lbs.
I am not sure what manual you found but you might check with Honda with you VIN to verify the capacity.
