Question:
After going through the QandAs, I think Ive got my answer, but I want to make sure... Im setting up my 2004 Mustang to tow a Motorcycle cargo trailer from Time Out. The trailer has a five pin flat and Ive been given a five pin flat for the car. The car does NOT currently have a harness installed. If I understand correctly, I can run the R and L brake/signal wires to the part #118158 grounded separately to the vehicle, and then run the three outputs from the part #118158 and a jumper from to the the car running lights to the proper pins on my new 5 pin tow vehicle plug. The Mustang would then be equipped with a 5 pin flat that mates directly to the trailer and the trailer lights separate signal and brake lights should work correctly. Seems too simple, but have I got it right?

You would need a converter like part # 118158 to allow you to tow a trailer with a separate third brake light.
For a 4-way though you'd want the part # C55326 which is confirmed as a fit for your 2004 Ford Mustang. So what I would do is install the adapter # 118158 on the wiring of the trailer since it is what uses non-standard trailer wiring. This will leave you with a standard 4-way on your vehicle that you can maybe tow a future trailer with.
