Question:

Hi, I own a 2016 Spartan 3812 toy hauler. I have an issue with leak-by on one of my four gate valves. Can I install this at the end of the 3 inch dump PVC, just behind the cap to avoid surprises when I remove the cap? Im OK with cutting the black pipe and fitting this in as a union, if it will work that way. If the electric one isnt appropriate for this solution/application, Ill buy a manual. But, getting lazy in my old age and the electric sounds like a good idea for a poopy chore! Thanks!

You definitely can use the Valterra EZ Valve Electric Waste Valve # E1003VP just before the cap to your black water tank to avoid any unpleasant presents when you take the cap off.

To install it you will just need to cut the pipe and then glue the appropriate pieces together with Valterra ABS Solvent Cement # A05-0303. A great option to accomplish this is to use the Valterra RV Sewer Slip Hub with Flange # T1005 that has a 3" diameter.

Just keep in mind that when the valve is open it measures 15-1/4" from the bottom of the assembly to the top of the handle. When it is closed it measures 11-1/2". This does have a manual override that you can use in the case of loss of power so you may want to consider making sure you have enough room for your hand to fit with the handle.
