Troubleshooting Inability To Remove Diversi- Tech Ball Mount From Hitch Receiver
Updated 02/13/2018 | Published 02/12/2018 >
Question:
I placed this hitch on my truck to tow something a couple miles. Now it is unable to to be removed from my truck. TI broke one key trying to unlock. I tried to remove the locking mechanism, I play some WD-40 on them to try to loosen them up. But a little screw that holds the lock-in has been stripped out. How am I going to remove this for my truck?

The Diversi-Tech Ball Mounts like # DTALBM7000-2S or similar that you pictured are really nice when maintained. The locking mechanism being stripped out will at this point require drilling out the lock core. Unfortunately there isn't much we can do to help at that point. When you drill out and remove the lock core, the mechanism at the pin hole should become able to be adjusted.
Normally if it weren't stripped out a little WD-40 or other penetrating oil and the vibration from a rubber mallet would allow the mechanism to loosen from the lubricant working into the small spaces would allow you to remove the ball mount.
