When Should Red Light be on Tekonsha Voyager Brake Controller?

Question:
I have Tekonsha brake controller on my 2005 Silverado. Is the red light supposed to be lit up at all times or just when its connected to a trailer ? It doesnt work but I have a red light on my tester when inserted in the back of the truck where the trailer would be connected. I replaced the controller and checked all fuses and still have no red light.

On the Tekonsha Voyager Trailer Brake Controller # 39510 the red light will not be lit up at all times. It will be on only when your Silverado is moving and connected to the trailer. It will also not be on unless the brake controller has been leveled properly so you will want to ensure that is the case. If this does not solve the problem please let me know and I'll be happy to further troubleshoot with you. I've added a link to the directions for this controller which also has a troubleshooting guide for you to take a look at.
