The SportRack Vista XL Cargo Box, part # SR7018, will mount to crossbars that have a spread of 25-7/8, 27-7/8 or 29-7/8 inches. It uses 3-3/4 inch wide U-bolts to attach to your crossbars, so it will fit crossbars up to 3-3/4 inches in diameter.
I talked to SportRack and they said the thickness of the crossbar will not be a problem because the mounting hardware that is used will allow enough range to fit even the thickest of factory crossbars.
If your 2011 Dodge Journey factory crossbars can be moved to at least 24 inches apart and the crossbar is less than 3-3/4 inches in diameter then the SportRack cargo box will fit.
Anytime you are going to haul cargo on the roof of your 2011 Dodge Journey you will want to check the owners manual or with the Dodge dealer for what the roof capacity is for your vehicle. The roof capacity will let you know how many pounds you will be able to haul on the roof of your vehicle.
