From reading reviews I understand some kind of crossbar is needed to secure a step-through ladies type bike since this type of bike has no crossbar. How does that work?

A bike frame adapter bar like the part # UB01 attaches to the steering stem and to the seat post of the bike giving the arm of the Thule DoubleTrack Pro XT part # TH92BJ a secure place to grab on to.
