If I am just moving my trailer around the house trailer hitch is 2 5/16 and I have the trailer valet XL 2 in, do I NEED to switch it out or should it do ok?

You really have to match the ball size of the trailer to the ball size of the Trailer Valet. Otherwise the Trailer Valet won't lock to the coupler properly and wouldn't be stable.
So what you need is the part # TVBB2. This allows you to easily switch between the two ball sizes.
