Question:
Hello. I have a class II hitch on my 2009 Subaru outback 2.5i SE non-turbo/non-sport. I am planning on selling the vehicle but I was hoping to use this hitch on my wife’s 2011 Toyota Prius Five. At your website, it only shows the Prius has choices for class I hitches. Will my class II hitch still be able to work on her vehicle?

Thank you very much very much for your question and congratulations on the potential sale of your vehicle. I did research on your question, and the owner's manual for your wife's 2011 Toyota Prius V has a section on trailer towing. It does indicate Toyota does not recommend towing a trailer with your vehicle.Toyota also does not recommend the installation of a tow hitch or the use of a tow hitch carrier for a wheelchair, scooter, bicycle, etc. Your Toyota is not designed for trailer towing or for the use of tow hitch mounted carriers.
No a Class II hitch you have from your 2009 Subaru Outback 2.5i will not work for the Prius V. The hitch on the Subaru is designed specifically for it and is not to be used on other vehicles. We do carry hitches that fit your Prius however they are all Class I like you mentioned in your question.
Don't forget to double check with your wife's owner manual to see how you would like to proceed. If you would like to proceed with a hitch fitting the Prius V you may want to consider the Draw-Tite Sport frame Trailer Hitch Receiver # 24847 a Class I receiver.
With the Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector Item # C56147, Draw-Tite Drawbar # 3593 and hitch ball # 19258 that should complete your towing package.
