Should Fifth Wheel Wedge Fight Tight to Jaws of Fifth Wheel Hitch

Published 12/06/2017

Question:

It took me a while but I finally found a take-of sidewinder pin box for my 7920. A question I have is about the width of the wedge. Is it supposed to be super tight when fitting into the notch for the pin lock on the trucks hitch plate. I have a 16k Reese hitch in the truck. Im wondering if there is more than one width of wedge offered or do I make fitinch with this one. If you can, Id appreciate the proper width dimention of the wedge. . . .thanks,

The size of the wedge you need depends on the fifth wheel hitch you have. If you have a Titan 16k Reese hitch the wedge you need is part # RP30865, if you have a Select Plus fifth wheel hitch that uses the single hook to secure the king pin you'd want the part # SWW-03. Different hitches have different width jaw openings so what you are asking about would depend on the hitch and wedge you currently have, but you want the wedge to fit tight to prevent movement.
