Recommended Trailer Wiring Harness for 2015 Chevy Impala Limited

Question:

Why will not any universal trailer wiring harness that splices into existing wiring and will convert a 3 wire system to a 2 wire system for the trailer work with any vehicle. I want to connect my 2015 Impala Limited to a trailer with the least possible cost. Hopkins 48925 and 56144 both say they will make such a conversion, but information on both say they will not work with my vehicle. I just installed a trailer hitch which I bought from you which fit my vehicle perfectly. Thanks

I'm glad to hear your trailer hitch receiver installation went well. For your 2015 Chevy Impala Limited, I recommend the Curt Powered Tail Light Converter with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector # C59236 which has a max amperage of 5 amps on stop/turn lights and 7.5 amps on tail lights. This is a confirmed fit for your vehicle and will protect your factory wiring.

The Hopkins # HM48925 will only put out a max amperage of 2.1 per circuit so that won't help. There are many that could work, but you'd be close to the custom price range, so I recommend you go with the confirmed fit.

Question:

Thank you for your reply. Information provided for the Curt #56188 harness indicates that it is a custom plug in fit for my 2015 Impala Limited LS. Do you know for a fact that it will not fit?

I reached out to my contact at Curt and they said that the # C59236 will work on just about anything and that on your vehicle, the # C56046 will work for your application because the limited uses the old body style that doesn't need the circuit module, so you could even splice a 4-way like # C58044 straight in. This will be the least possible cost and will work according to my contact at Curt.
