Why cant I flip this mount over and use it as a 4inch ? Need that much for the receiver on the front of my 4X4, to push my boat trailer around.

Some lighter-duty ball mounts such as the Class I Draw-Tite # 3594 cannot be used in the drop position because there would not be enough room for the coupler to get around the hitch ball. The short part of the shank would prevent this. For a 1-1/4-inch ball mount with about 4-inches of drop you can use Class II ball mount # 36078 or Class I ball mount # 3593 with 2-3/4-inches of drop, or # C45022 with 3-1/4-inches of drop.
