Yes, if you do not have a connector for a brake controller in your 2003 GMC Sierra 1500 HD then you can use the Custom Wiring Adapter for Hayes Trailer Brake Controllers # HA81789-HBC-GM so that you can easily install your Hayes brake controller. You will want to refer to the instructions included with your brake controller to ensure that this is installed correctly.
You may want to check first though to see if you have the port under your driver side dash that the Custom Wiring Adapter # HA81780-HBC plugs into. I am attaching a picture to show you what the location looks like where it will be installed. This will help you avoid any splicing and will give you a much quicker option for installing your Hayes brake controller.
