What Does Red LED Mean on Starlights Motion Activated Smart Light 1000 Porch Light 277-000158

Question:

I have a 1979 Hi-lo rv and im installing the Smart Light 1000 when i took the old porch light fixture off it only had one wire coming out the positive. When i mount the Smart light 1000 negative to the metal frame of the camper i keep getting the blinking red light. How else can it be grounded or will i have to run a wire to the battery negative side which will be a lot of work. Did i get the wrong product for my camper ?

With the Starlights Motion Activated Porch Light # 277-000158 the red light you see indicates that the light senses your battery power is low. The red light does not indicate any problem with how you installed the fixture. Please refer to the linked video.

Any trailer light will require a ground, either a wired ground (on a white wire typically) or a mounting point ground, where the mounting screws or the light housing (if it were made of metal) make the ground connection between the light and the RV frame.
