Question:
I just ordered this rack for my 2016 Ford Edge with no existing rails. Do I really need to remove it to go through a car wash?

Expert Reply:
You will need to remove the Rhino-Rack RS 2500 Roof Rack consisting of the Vortex crossbars # RRVA137B-2, Leg kit # RRRLKVA, and Fit kit # DK432 from your 2016 Ford Edge when you go through a car wash.
The reason is because it secures via the clips instead of existing mounting locations or a flush roof rail that attaches it directly to the vehicle itself. Any roof rack system that utilizes the clips will need to be removed regardless of manufacturer.
The exception to this is if you were to use a do-it-yourself car wash as nothing will be physically touching your vehicle to catch any component and damage the clips.
