Using a Different Tool in Place of Supplied Yakima Torque Wrench for Roof Rack Installation
Updated 10/31/2017 | Published 10/30/2017 >
Question:
Is the torque screwdriver like tool that Yakima provides standard? Can I use a ratchet type tool that is easier on the hands? The specs say nada. No name eof the Tox head. I have the wrench, but it hurts this old man to tighten a scredriver. Thanks

You could use a different tool in place of Yakima torque wrench # 8880613. However, doing so could result in over-tightening and damage to the roof rack or what it is attached to. You can use a 3/16 inch allen wrench bit or a T25 bit. Just be careful not to over-tighten the system.
