Rear View Safety Wireless Hitch Camera # RVS-83112 has up to a 70 foot range. Depending on the amount of aluminum in the trailer, that distance may be shorter. This system uses a 2.4 GHZ transmitter/receiver.
For a WiFi Camera that uses your smart phone, I recommend the Swift Hitch Wi-Fi Camera for Smartphone or Tablet - Wireless - Night Vision - 5-Hour Battery # SH04. This will use the same 2.4 GHZ transmitter/receiver but will allow you to change the antenna location for better connection. See the attached instructions.
The Rear View Safety WiFi Hitch Backup Camera System - Wireless # RVS-83112-WIFI that uses the smart phone as a monitor has a distance of 50 feet. So that is not a great system for your tractor trailer.
