How to Carry 4 Bikes with a 2017 Hyundai Ioniq

Updated 09/06/2017 | Published 09/05/2017

Question:

Hyundai Ioniq , 2017: Where are we on hitches for bike racks for this car? I need an 1 1/4inch hitch for a four-bike bike rack. Does 200lb tongue weight cut it?

The hitches available for your 2017 Hyundai Ioniq are all Class I hitches like the Draw Tite part # 24963 which is a confirmed fit. Class I hitches can only carry up to 2 bikes at a time since they are for lower capacity vehicles. Any more than that and the weight and leverage of the additional bikes stresses the hitch/vehicle too much.

The most popular bike rack we carry that has been confirmed to fit this vehicle is the Thule Camber 2 part # TH9058. We asked our demo and install guys to name their favorite, most easy-to-use bike racks and this one showed up in nearly everyone's top three. Check out the review video I attached for more info.

If you plan on carrying any womens or alternative framed bikes without horizontal top tubes you may also be interested in purchasing a Kuat Bike Frame Adapter Bar # UB01 to provide a horizontal top tube on your bikes to provide an attachment point. I attached a review video for this product also. This will allow the bikes to be carried more level and will provide more ground clearance.

The other two bikes could be carried on a roof rack like the Yakima part numbers # Y00408, # Y28TR, # Y03536, # Y06175, and # Y06111 which is a confirmed fit. Then for roof racks the Highroller part # Y02107 would be a great option that would let you leave the wheel on.
