Question:
Just bought a boat. The truck 2017 Highlander Limited is supposed to be pre-wired, but I cant figure out what I need to do for wiring. I assume that if it is pre-wired then a converter is included. Given that how do I get from 4 to 5 poles without voiding any warranties zapping something. Please help, this is definitely not my area of expertise.

First I have to tell you that the 2017 Toyota Highlander warranty cannot be voided if you install or have someone install an aftermarket part. Now if that part was to cause a problem on the vehicle then the repairs would not be covered.
With that said I would agree that if the vehicle is pre-wired for a trailer connector you would need an option that doesn't come with a converter. In order to get a 5-Way you would first need to install a 4-Way using # 56042. Then you would need the 4- to 5-Way adapter # 20036. The 4-Way will plug into the adapter and then you would just need to splice the blue wire to a reverse light wire on the Highlander using the included quick splice connector.
Finding a reverse light wire will take some searching. It is possible that there is a reverse light circuit behind one of the taillights. This would be ideal because otherwise you would need to access the reverse light wiring in the hatch behind the reverse lights. It is also possible to get the reverse light signal wire in the wiring harness that goes from the roof into the hatch at the top.
You will need a circuit tester such as # PTW2993 or a meter if you have one to test the wires on the vehicle. To do so the vehicle will have to be in reverse which means you will need to chock the wheels, have the emergency brake on, and someone in the vehicle with their foot on the brake and then shift into reverse.
