Trailer Wiring Harness Installation on a 2010 Volkswagen Tiguan
Updated 04/29/2011 | Published 04/28/2011 >
Question:
Sorry for my ignorance, but I have the 2010 Tiguan wiring kit purchased from you and was questioning whether after installation, do I have to have the Tiguan flashed? The VW Forum thread states that aftermarket kits wont work unless I take it to the VW dealership to reflash. I purchased this kit believing it would be as simple to install on the Tiguan as the video shows on the Volvo. Any links for wiring diagram will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

The Tekonsha ZCI Circuit Protected Vehicle Wiring Harness, item # 11250KIT, is designed to be installed on the 2010 Volkswagen Tiguan without any assistance from the dealer, or reflashing the vehicle computer. None of the wiring harnesses we carry require dealer help with the installation.
You will need to test the wiring on your Tiguan, with the included circuit tester, to determine the correct wires to attach each wire to on your vehicle, see instructions. The information I have is that the 2010 Tiguan has a 3 wire system, so you will need to follow the directions under 3 wire system in step 9 of the instructions.
The install should be just as simple as the video on the Volvo, but your testing will have to determine the correct wires to splice the harness to. We do not have vehicle wiring diagrams available.
