What is the difference between the vertical and horizontal clevis cranks for the #BD183816 jack? Thanks for your time,

The clevis in regards to Bulldog 2-Speed Jack, part # BD183816, is the style of the crank handle for the jack. The difference is in the alignment of the pivot point to the rest of the crank handle.

A horizontal clevis crank handle when folded up will pivot almost like a wing and lay flat on the side of the trailer when not in use, whereas a vertical clevis crank handle will pivot in like an elbow and fold in to the trailer and be secured in place.

In order to pick the right one for your application you will need to look at your trailer to determine how the crank will be stored. If it looks like it swings in and is stored towards the jack, and the handle is perpendicular to the trailer you would want a vertical clevis crank handle, part # BD015181.

If it looks like the crank handle gets stored flat on the side of your trailer parallel relation to the direction of your trailer you will want a crank handle with a horizontal clevis, part # BD800090.
