Question:

I have a customer with a 2017 Mercedes Benz GLE - They purchased the car without the towing package. Can you tell me what parts I need to give my customer a tow hitch with wiring harness? Thanks!

Starting with the trailer hitch, if your customer has the 2017 Mercedes-Benz GLE350 excluding the Active Curve System, I recommend the Draw-Tite # 76141. This Class III hitch is confirmed to fit this vehicle and will provide a 2 inch receiver opening and a towing weight capacity of 7,000 pounds, although the owner will also need to check the capacity of the vehicle itself as listed in the owner's manual. No drilling will be required during installation.

Then for wiring, I recommend the Tekonsha ZCI Circuit Protected Vehicle Wiring Harness # 119250KIT. This kit will allow you to install a 4-way trailer connector without cutting or splicing into the vehicle's wiring. This is because it uses zero-contact interface sensors to identify the current flowing through each wire by simply clamping onto it. I have again included the installation details that you can look through.

You will lastly need a ball mount. I have attached an article that explains how to choose the correct ball mount to tow the trailer level along with a link that will take you to our available selection.
