How to Determine What Ball Mount to Use for Towing

Question:

I currently have a Hidden Hitch Class 2 with a ball receiver of 5/8 inch height. when I hook up my trailer Sylvansport Go I have a problem of putting the wheel into to the up position. I want to know how much higher of a ball mount do I need to keep this problem from occuring?

When you are choosing a ball mount you will want to make sure that it has the correct Rise or Drop for your setup. To determine if you need a Rise or Drop ball mount and how much of either one you will need, you will simply need to do some measuring.

You will want to park your tow vehicle on level ground and then measure from the ground to the top of the hitch receiver opening. You will then want to make sure that your trailer is on level ground and is level as well. Now measure from the ground to the bottom of the coupler on your trailer.

If your hitch receiver is higher then you need a ball mount with a Drop, but if the coupler is higher you will need a ball mount with a Rise. Just choose whichever one that you need based off of the difference between the heights.

I have attached a helpful article on choosing the correct ball mount as well as a link to our selection of ball mounts for you to choose from.
