I have two excellent 5th wheel tailgate options for your 2004 Dodge Ram 3500. For this, you can either choose from the Stromberg Carlson 100 Series 5th Wheel Tailgate part # VGD-02-100 or the Stromberg Carlson 4000 Series 5th Wheel Louvered Tailgate part # VGD-02-4000. Unfortunately, a mesh tailgate will not provide you with the clearance needed for towing a 5th wheel trailer.
The Stromberg Carlson 4000 has an integrated lock in addition to providing them same improved visibility and increase gas mileage as the 100 series. In addition to these features, you can also use the Louver Insert Kit for Stromberg Carlson 4000 Series 5th Wheel Tailgates part # 4000-V which can be painted to match your factory color and the Louvered Tailgate Insert for Stromberg Carlson 4000 Series 5th Wheel Louvered Tailgate part # VI-4000 for a more factory look when not towing.
