Question:
I have a 2015 Subaru Outback with factory installed roof rack. Using the Thule fit guide and measuring my hatch clearance I get approx 50.5 ins. According to the guide that measurement should be less than 36 ins. Since the sidekick measures 54 ins in length I dont see how that can be true. Should it read greater than 36ins? It seems to me this product should fit without difficulty. I have adequate spacing between the front and rear rail.

For the Thule Sidekick Roof Mounted Cargo Carrier Box - U-Bolt Mounts - 8 Cubic Feet Item # TH78GC there will need to be at least 51-7/8 inches from the center of the front crossbar to the line where the roof and hatch meet to avoid hatch interference on your 2015 Subaru Outback.
I do have another option for you though. You can use the Trunx Rooftop Cargo Box - 18 cu ft - Black # TRX34FR which requires just 36 inches clearance. Plus it costs less and has more cargo space than the Sidekick! I have included a link to a video review of this box for you.
