If your Reese 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch # RP30047 is resting as is demonstrated in the attached picture that is perfectly normal. It actually makes connecting your trailer a little easier. When backing up you will just need to aim the 5th wheel hitch head towards the middle of the pin box as that is where the king pin is.
If you are still a little uneasy about hooking up your 5th wheel you can use a backup camera to assist you. I recommend going with a magnetic camera as they can be mounted in various locations so you can pick which angle you would rather have. You can use the Rear View Safety Wireless Hitch Camera # RVS-83112 which has a monitor that plugs into a 12V power source or the Rampage Wireless Backup Camera # RA7710 which allows you to use a smartphone or tablet that uses iOS of Android as the monitor. For the Rampage camera you will need to download the free RamCam app.
i have attached some review videos that you can use to help determine which camera would be best for you.
