Can 12V Outlet in Rear Of 2014 Ford Edge be Used For Trailer Wiring Harness Power

Question:
I recently purchased a draw tite hitch for my 2014 Ford Edge. I had it installed as I do not have a lift. It is a great unit and the installation was on $75. My question is that I want to install your wiring harness. However at my age I no longer work under cars. I have a 12 volt outlet at the rear of the cargo rated at 20 amps. Would this work one I purchase a plug in adapter. My trailer gets on used once or twice a year. Thanks

The problem with using the 12V outlet at the back of your 2014 Edge is that the outlet is on a fused circuit.
If the fuse would blow you would not have trailer lights and you would not know it. It can be a bit tough to run the power lead wire to the positive battery post but it really is the only way to be sure you have power to your trailer connector.
The trailer wiring harness I recommend is part # 118515. I have attached a link to an installation video for this harness on a 2014 Edge you can check out.
