The correct wiring harness that will connect the Hayes Syncronizer Trailer Brake Controller part # HA81725 to factory wiring harness on your 2009 Dodge Ram 2500 is the Custom Wiring Adapter for Hayes Brake Controllers part # HA81782-HBC. This a complete plug and play option that will not require hardwiring unless you do not already have a factory trailer connector installed, in that case you will need to use the hardwire wiring harness that comes with the Hayes Syncronizer Trailer Brake Controller.

The factory pigtail connector for the brake controller if equipped, will be located underneath the driver's side kick panel general tapped to an existing wire loom. This location can be shown at the 52 second mark in the attached video.
