Question:
Hello I was looking at getting a tow hitch for my 2017 Subaru Forester. Would you be able to tell me the differences between the draw-tite and the curt model. I am interested in class 2 1-1/4 hitches. Thanks

The two Class II trailer hitch receivers for your 2017 Subaru Forester are the Draw-Tite # 36523 and Curt # C12100.
They are very similar in a lot of ways. The capacities of each hitch and the installation process are all basically the same.
When installed the Draw-Tite will measure about 6 inches from the hitch pin hole to the outer most point on the bumper where the Curt will be about 3-1/2 inches. So the Curt will stick out quite a bit more. This may make the Curt better because it can be easier to find accessories to clear the bumper however it also doesn't look as nice when nothing is in the hitch.
If you're going to be using the hitch for carrying accessories and not for towing a big difference between the two is that Curt requires a support strap, # 18050, be used to be compliant with the hitch warranty. So if you're carrying a bike rack, cargo carrier, or anything other than a trailer you're required to use the strap. The Draw-Tite does not require a strap at all.
I've linked install videos and the install details of each hitch for you to see as well.
