Expert Reply:
The T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4 Pole Trailer Connector, # 118459, is a powered converter that requires a direct connection to the vehicle battery. This virtually eliminates the power draw from the vehicle tail light wiring which protects the sensitive circuitry. The Curt T-Connector, # 55542, does not require a direct connection to the battery but the power draw from the trailer comes directly from the tail light wiring.
For your 2010 Toyota Corolla, I recommend going the safer route by choosing the T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4 Pole Trailer Connector, # 118459, that you have referenced. It does require a few extra steps for installation but the protection it offers to your vehicle electronics is well worth it. I have included a link to the installation details for reference.
