The base plate kit that I recommend for you to use on your 1997 Ford F-250 4x4 is the Roadmaster MX Base Plate Kit # 456-1. This kit has removable arms that allow you to have a nice clean look when not flat towing.

The Roadmaster Blackhawk 2 All Terrain, Non-Binding Tow Bar # RM-422 is an excellent option to use that will compliment the MX Base Plate on your F-250.

You will also need to make sure that you have Safety Cables, like Roadmaster # RM-653, and a Wiring Kit, like Roadmaster # RM-15247.

Most states now require the use of a supplemental braking system on vehicles that are being towed. I recommend going with the Roadmaster Even Brake # RM-9400 for its ease of use and the variety of vehicles that it is compatible with. This is a portable braking system that will sit on the floorboard of your F-250 and apply the brakes on your truck in proportion to how the brakes are applied on your RV preventing wear and tear of both vehicle's braking systems.

Be sure to consult your F-250 owner's manual for any special instructions for flat towing.

I have attached some demonstration videos that you can check out as well to get an idea of how these items will install/work.
