Does Reverse Light Circuit on Trailer Wiring Run to Power Wire or Ground Wire on Trailer Light

Question:

When installing a 7 way trailer harness do I hook up the reverse lights to the positive or negative side of the reverse light socket?

Expert Reply:

The reverse light pin on a 7-way (center pin) carries 12 volts of power so it would need to connect to the power wire of the reverse light circuit. The ground of the socket would run back to the ground circuit. Which could either be just the trailer frame or the main ground wire of the trailer.
