It is certainly possible to weld on the Husky Channel Tongue Trailer Coupler # HT87076 either in addition to or instead of bolting it to the trailer but since this coupler is zinc-plated welding it will release toxic fumes that are dangerous. If you prefer to weld this unit do so only in a well-ventilated area. Also note that you may need to touch up the finish since welding will likely discolor portions of the coupler.

For a 2-inch ball coupler for a 3-inch channel tongue that is meant for weld-on installation you can use Demco # DM12563 (rated for 10K), Dutton Lainson # DL13800 (rated for 3500-lbs) or Atwood # 80060 (rated for 5K).
