Class I, 1-1/4 Inch Trailer Hitch Mount Bike Rack Recommendation for a Volkswagen Jetta Sportwagen

Question:
Id like to put a 2 hitch on a Jetta Sportwagen to be used ONLY for a bike rack. My wife has a specialty bike that is a pain to put on the typical 4-bike rack carriers. What is the chance I can put a rack other than a 1 1/4 one on the Sportwagen?

All of the available trailer hitches for the 2009 to 2011 VW Jetta SportWagen are 1-1/4 inch hitches. We do offer numerous hitch mounted bike racks that are compatible with the 1-1/4 inch, Class I hitches. However, with a Class I trailer hitch installed, you will be limited to carrying only 2 bikes as the Class I trailer hitches are not designed to withstand the amount of weight and torque associated with carrying more than 2 bikes.
For a 1-1/4, Class I trailer hitch, I recommend the BikeWing 2 Bike Rack, # B01311. This rack is light weight, under 13 pounds, and grips the bikes at the wheels so it will accommodate virtually any bike frame style. I have included a link to a video review of this rack for reference.
