Installation Of Torklift Quick Disconnect Overload Springs On 2014 Chevy 2500 Short Bed

Question:

hi fitting stabilizers on a 2014 2500 hd short bed four door chevy. the gap measurements are: driver side front 5/8 rear 1 3/8. taking off one wedgethe top wedge w/3 holes on the front works with aprox. 1/8 space when engaged. looks like front is ok. now the rear, with three wedges will have 5/8 space when engaged. is the rear ok with that much gap? or,putting the unused top wedge upside down, under bottom wedgew/5 holes, reducing gap to 3/8 when in engaged work better? suggestions? thanks jim

I reached out to Torklift and the 1/8 inch gap on the front is ideal for your TorkLift StableLoad Rear Suspension Upgrade with Quick-Disconnects - Lower Overload Springs # TLA7310. The 5/8 inch gap on the rear is within their limits and not an issue. You cannot add another wedge, 3 is the max for their system and you should not install any upside down. The springs normally engage in stages that is why you have the larger gap on the back to begin with. This is a good thing as it makes your system engage when weight is added and then more engaged as more weight is added. This will reduce the jarring you might experience if it were engaged sooner.
