Question:
Interested in the Hopkins smart hitch camera 50002. Watched install video for 2009 Silverado and noted a red wire present when installing at rear of vehicle, but the wire seemed to disappear by the time he reached the cab. Where did it go and where does it connect. Also, my Silverado is a 2500 dual cab long bed. Will wire cable be enough to reach dash or will I need extra cable? Thanks

The Hopkins Smart Hitch Backup Camera and Hitch Aligner System # HM50002 is a very easy to install system. The wires coming from the camera install into factory connectors for a simple plug and play application. If you don't have the factory connector, you can simply hardwire the system. The black wire goes to ground and the red wire goes to your reverse light function to power the camera when you shift into reverse. For your dual cab long bed, you may need the 5 foot extension wire # HM3100504060.
