Question:
Took my 2008 F250 SD to get a gooseneck hitch installed , and the guy intalled a voager in the truck, all lights work but the controls box light does not come on . Im thinking is there a harness that I could buy to connect the box directly to the 14-way gray connector that the truck says it has? Also can the box go bad?

The correct under dash harness for your 2008 Ford F-250 Super Duty, is the Tekonsha Wire Replacement for Ford Super Duty Pickups, item # 3034-P, if your controller has the Tekonsha connector attached to the wiring at the back of the controller. If your controller is a couple of years old you would need the Brake Controller Wiring Adapter for Pre-Wired 2008 - 2009 Ford Super Duty Vehicles, item # 3034-S, to hard wire to the wires at the back of the brake controller.
If your controller was working but is now not functioning properly there could be corrosion or moisture in the 7-Way connector that is causing the green light not to come on when the trailer is connected. This corrosion could be in the vehicle or trailer side connector. Also you should check for a loose power wire or ground wire that could be the cause for the light not coming on.
If this does not solve the issue you will need to sever the blue wire at the back of the brake controller. Leave enough room to reattach it once testing is complete. This will eliminate any possibility of trouble on the vehicle or trailer wiring. Then, using a circuit tester, item # PTW2993 if needed, test the black wire going into the brake controller for 12-volt constant power. Next, test the red wire for power, only when the brake pedal is pressed. If these functions are correct and there is no output on the blue wire when the Manual Slide Knob is activated there is most likely a problem inside the brake controller. Brake controllers have no user serviceable internal parts so you would need to replace the controller.
If replacement is needed, I would recommend the P3 brake controller, item # 90195, along with the # 3040-P wiring harness mentioned earlier.
