Question:

I would like to know the best hitch/WD sway control combo for a 2016 Hyundai Santa FE SE coupled with a travel trailer weighing 3200 lbs and 400-500 lb hitch weight. I am concerned about ground clearance as well. thanks!

For your 2016 Hyundai Santa Fe the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver, # C13152, is the hitch that I recommend for your vehicle. This is a Class III hitch that is rated with a maximum tongue weight of 900 lbs when using a weight distribution system.

When deciding on a weight distribution system you need to know your total tongue weight of your trailer and towing vehicle. Total tongue weight is a fully loaded ready to tow trailer, plus any weight that is located in your tow vehicle behind the rear axle. With this number then you will be able to find a weight distribution system that your total tongue weight will fall in between the systems tongue weight range.

With the info that you provide I can give you a general recommendation for a weight distribution system. Lets say your total tongue weight is between 450-600 lbs, then a weight distribution system like the Reese Strait-Line # RP66083 would work well with that tongue weight range. This Reese system uses the dual cam sway control to eliminate trailer sway before it begins.

The Reese system does not include a trailer ball. I recommend # A-90 trailer ball for the Reese WD system.
