Question:

I have a 2001 dodge ram with 4 pole wiring and a popup camper with I assume is 5 pole wiring. The poles are not side by side they form a cube almost with two rows of wire connectors. The trailer wiring has red, brown and green which are small in diamter and then there are two really thick wires, one is white the other is red-ish, almost pink. How do I do a quick splicing that will suffice for one day until I can get the adapter?

You will need to connect theMighty Cord Trailer Connector Adapter - 4-Way Flat to 6-Way Round - 12" Long
Item # A10-6034VP to your vehicle and then use the Hopkins Trailer Connector Adapter - 6-Pole Round to 6-Pole Square # HM47415, this pair will give you a way to connect your camper into the 6-way square. You will then connect the # HM47415 to your coleman pop ups six way square connector.

In order to get the connector to make the right connections you are now going to cut the wires on the # 30104 and strip the end of all the wires that were cut. Next, you are going to use trial and error to find the correct wiring configuration. I would recommend getting a buddy to sit in your tow vehicle and apply the brakes and blinkers and then you would try different wire connections using a circuit tester # PTW2993 until you find the right combination. Once you match the right wires you will simply connect them by either soldering or using butt-end connectors, you should also tape up the wires with electrical tape.

Now you will have a connector that allows you to use your trailer light functions without having to make permanent modifications to your vehicle or pop up.
