Why Doesn't Yakima Replacement Knob part # 8890239 Come with a Lock Core

Question:

What lock core is compatible with this knob? Also - note to future buyers, I assumed the lock core was part of the knob because it is in one of the pictures and it includes a key. That is not the case, it does not include a core and the key is a blank.

The replacement knob part # 8890239 comes with a change key, but it does not come with a lock core. The reasoning for that is so that you can purchase separately a lock core that will match what you currently have allowing you to only need to remember one key.

Look at the Yakima key you already have. You will see a number stamped on it. That number is how you will pick out the correct core. For example if you see 147 you would want the lock core part # Y8771-A147.
