Question:
I have a 2007 GMC Sierra crew cab 1500 5.3 lt engine. I presently have an older model Tekonsha brake cotroller in my truck. Ive ordered the Prodigy P2 controller from etrailer. Can I simply unplug, remove the old one, install the new one and plug it in? The new part is presently in transit. Thanks,

Yes, you will be able to uninstall your older brake controller and install the Tekonsha P2, # 90885, in its place without the need of any extra steps or parts. Since your 2007 GMC Sierra uses a bundle of wires and not a port, you will just need to make note of the functions of the wires on the vehicle side.
On the new brake controller and more than likely on the old one, the white wire is ground, the black wire is 12 volt power, the blue wire is brake output, and the red wire is the stop light switch. All you will need to do is make the appropriate connections, mount the new controller, and set it up per the instructions. I have included a link to the installation details for reference along with a link to a video showing installation on a similar vehicle.
